Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! (also known as Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer) is the second installment in the classic Spyro trilogy. It was released in 1999, and like its predecessor, was developed by Insomniac Games.

Spyro is feeling kind of gloomy at the beginning of the game, so he decides he needs a vacation. The perfect place to go is Dragon Shores, a fun-filled resort with a beach and carnival, so Spyro decides to jump into the portal to go there. However, he winds up in the world of Avalar due to The Professor tampering with the portal so that he could make a dragon appear. Things get worse when the tyrannical Ripto arrives. He planned to take over Avalar because there would be no pesky dragons to foil his plans. With Spryo there, Ripto's reign is threatened. Now, Spyro must take down Ripto, save Avalar, and earn his well-deserved vacation in Dragon Shores.

Completion Requirements[]

  • Collect all 14 talismans.
  • Defeat Ripto.
  • Collect all 10,000 gems.
  • Collect all 64 orbs.
  • Collect all Skill Points. The game does not count these towards 100%, so it's up to the player to decide whether they go towards completion, or are instead classified as achievements.

Master Run Ideas[]

  • Speed Run
  • No Death Run

Completion Tips[]

Collecting everything and earning 100% completion will give you the infinite Superflame powerup. Use this to help you collect all of the missing skill points. Alternatively, if you start a new file on the same save, you will keep the Superflame, creating an impromptu "new game plus".

Don't bother escorting the alchemist in Fractured Hills until you've made it to Winter Tundra and bought the headbutt move. Not only is the alchemist escort mission the most annoying challenge in the game for many, but the challenge directly after that with Hunter requires the headbutt; if you don't have it, you will be required to do the alchemist escort mission again (stage challenges reset upon the revisiting of a stage; completing the challenge again will not give you another orb).
