Freedom Planet is a 2D platformer created by GalaxyTrail for PC on July 21, 2014. The nefarious Lord Brevon crash landed onto the planet Avalice and is planning on stealing the Kingdom Stone, the planet's main source of power, to rule with an iron fist. In addition, his presence led to an energy crisis, which created strife between the nations of Shang Mu and Shang Tu. The only ones who can stop Brevon are Sash Lilac and Carol Tea, along with their new friend Milla Basset.

The game was originally planned as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game based on characters designed by artist ZiyoLing. Eventually, it was decided that it should be part of its own franchise. Funding for the game was provided by a successful Kickstarter campaign, and the final game was released in July of 2014. Though it has some detractors saying its Sonic influence is too obvious, Freedom Planet was very well received otherwise for its fast-paced action, its dramatic storyline, and its aesthetic style, which is musically and graphically similar to a PlayStation or Sega Saturn game, specifically one imported from Japan. Overall, it is widely seen as an example of a Kickstarter-funded game done right.

After many delays due to a fatal bug which could freeze the system, the Wii U version was finally released on October 1, 2015. Free DLC is planned for the future, where players can control Spade and Torque, two other plot-important characters.

Completion Requirements[]

  • Beat the game on Hard Mode as Lilac, Carol, and Milla. This can be done in Adventure or Classic mode (Adventure simply adds cutscenes, while Classic doesn't have them).
  • Collect all cards in each level that has them.
  • Clear all trials in the Shang Mu Academy.

The DLC still has yet to come out, so this section will be updated when the content releases.

Master Run Ideas[]

  • Speed Run: Due to the game's emphasis on speed, this is highly encouraged.
  • No Death Run
  • No Game Over Run: On easy, it's quite simple to do this, but Normal is when it starts becoming a challenge.

Completion Tips[]

Some cards cannot be collected by certain characters. While in Dragon Valley it's possible to earn all cards as just Lilac, sometimes they're hidden in places that require character specific abilities.

Though it may be difficult to believe, all bosses follow a specific pattern. Sure, it may take time to learn them, but once you do, it's possible to defeat all bosses by proper timing and precise hits.

Lilac's Dragon Boost grants brief invincibility when it's used. Use this to your advantage when fighting tougher bosses. Just be careful not to be in the line of fire when the invincibility wears off!
