One of Konami's most famous franchises, Castlevania tells the story about the Belmont family's never-ending duel against Count Dracula. Originally starting out as a linear 2D platformer with high difficulty, Symphony of the Night changed the formula up by adding a great deal of exploration, making it play more like a Metroid game. Since then, most installments have followed this trend, with a couple 3D action games thrown in for good measure.
